My husband and I decided last year to give our kids a different kind of gift for Christmas. We chose to gift an adventure box to our boys for their big present. Many people questioned our reasoning and assumed that this present would be their least favorite. Boy were they wrong! They were so excited when they opened the box and read the letter!
We are coming up on our 9th month, and the boys still get excited when we open an envelope to see what we are doing together as a family. The toys they received for Christmas were exciting for a little while, but after a while, they stopped playing with them. However, each month there’s something new and exciting to look forward to with the adventure box! They have already mentioned some ideas that they would like to see in the box next year!
I wholeheartedly believe that the gift of time is more valuable to our children than any present that we could buy them. They would rather have our undivided attention any day than a toy!
